Recovering Addicts trust some form of a higher power, it could be a rabbit's foot, a gold coin or the God of their understanding. The point is addicts trust something to keep them sober.

What made recovery so hard for me is drugs made me trust no one.  Without trusting that at least one person had my best interest at heart I didn't stand a chance of ever getting off drugs. Fortunately I found someone who trusted me without knowing me and that made it possible for me to trust again which was the first step on my road to recovery.
